Steve Stencil was cool if I spelled the name right
I was an intern at WSHE in 1982 and had the opportunity to meet Nancy Gettle after her airshift one night. She did the 10 pm to 2 am shift and I was in one of the offices filling out some FCC reports when she walked by and saw me. She came into the office, sat down, and started up a conversation. I remember being struck by the surrealism of the experience as just a few short years earlier I was listening to her in my room just like many other teenagers. However, in spite of that, I managed to carry on a conversation with her for several hours and I remember getting home just as the sun was coming up. I barely had time to shower, put on some clean clothes, and be at BCC for my 8:00 class. I met all of the other dj's and the office staff who worked there at the time but I liked her the best for some reason. So if I had to pick a favorite dj she would be the one.
I liked Mirsky
RANDY THOMAS WAS NOTHING BUT A SOUR SCORNED BITCH. SHE ONLY GOT LUCKY BEING A FEMALE ON THE AIR DURING THE HEYDAY TO BE EMPLOYED BY TK.
OTHER THAN THAT, ANY STUPID BITCH COULD HAVE FILLED THAT POSITION.
I worked with Randy at when she came from WAXY in 1983 and have nothing but great memories of working with her. I'd write some strange commercials in those days and talk her into voicing them and she was always ready to try something new. It's no wonder she's a megastar in the voiceover industry.
There was a "heyday" to be employed by TK? I always considered it more of an adventure. I mean that in a good way.
My favorite jock, and somebody that I had the pleasure to meet in person, was Ron Brothers. Could not have asked to meet a nicer person. Left South Florida decades ago and have always wondered what happened to him and how he is doing.
Tom Judge, Mr. Bogart and Gary Martin. I was only a part time weekender there in 1977-78, and at the time, I worked a lot on their automated sister station WSRF-AM...but those guys along with Robin Martin & David St. John encouraged and helped me. I was able to work in biz for 22 years, and still make a living as a voice actor. LOVE the Lady....SHE !!
Thank You For Sharing Your Memories
I met Sonny Fox, and some of the other morning regulars at a promo at A Subway restaurant in Sunrise. I still have the Journey album they gave me. After Fox left for Y-100, as much as I like Gump, I could not follow. She was my preference for the morning drive. I remember Joey Reynolds. They lost me with Paul Castronovo. He was a less classy Howard Stern to me. Sarcasm intended.
